DoMyWriting.com has been in the writing service business since 2013. It boasts writers with Masters and Ph.D. degrees and offers academic writing of any type, from high school essays through Ph.D. dissertations. This includes essays, papers, reviews and critiques, case studies, lab reports, projects and presentations, admissions essays, homework, test-taking and more.

Visitors to the site will find that it is pretty easy to navigate, even though information is rather minimal. The other problem is that all of the products and services are not listed until a customer gets to the order page.

We used our standard criteria for evaluating DoMyWriting. This includes a number of factors – the website content, on-site testimonials, pricing, policies, and benefits, as well as Do My Writing customers reviews submitted to us and that we found on the web. When available, we look at published samples and blogs. We also review any information the company provides on its writers and our own experience with the customer support department.

All of what we have found is summarized below. 

Quality of Services Offered

Quality of products and services can only be determined by the writing that customers receive and by their experiences with the website, customer service, and with their writers. We also determine quality by the content on the website and the samples that are posted for visitor review.

• DoMyWriting reviews that have been sent to us and that we found elsewhere on the web are not very positive. Complaints range from very poor writing to old and outdated research resources. Most did state they received their products on time, but getting revisions was a hassle. Some stated that their writers were not always responsive.
• Other complaints related to clear grammatical and word usage errors.
• The samples we reviewed had many problems. Thesis statements were of poor quality, there was lack of good transitions from point to point, and, in all, the structure was disjointed and not coherent. We were really disappointed. For example, one high school essay on the geology of the Great Lakes had no thesis statement, and focused only on how they were formed. And that formation was repeated three times in a two-page essay. Again, a college level paper on the insurance industry had no thesis statement, and the structure was disorganized. References were as old as 2002.
• There is a blog on the site with a number of articles on different types of writing. We read two of them, only to find the same issues that customers have pointed out. Odd word usage, over-simplistic sentence structure, and some obvious grammatical errors were found.

Writers and Customer Support Agents

The company states that all of its writers are native English-speaking with Master’s and Ph.D.’s from top level universities. This is clearly not the case. There are too many errors in the finished products. Other than this single statement, there is no other information about the writers and the employment process. Evidently, they are categorized in some way, because customers can choose higher quality writers during the ordering process, for additional fees.

We spoke with customer support agents by phone and by chat, asking detailed questions about some of the products, especially dissertations. We were told that a dissertation could be completed in a matter of days, even if it needed to be 200 pages and have an original research project. We got the impression that they had no idea even what a dissertation entailed to produce. This certainly did not inspire much confidence.

Prices and Discounts

This is another vague area. There is no pricing sheet available on the website. The only way to get a price is to begin the ordering process. Given that, based on the what one customer paid for her paper, DoMyWriting prices seem to run about average. In terms of DoMyWriting discounts, there is a 5% discount given to all new customers, with a DoMyWriting coupon code to enter in the order form. Beyond that, we could not find any Do My Writing promo codes or discounts for loyalty. When we asked customer support about this, they stated that there were discounts available for long and complex orders, and customers could ask for them.

In terms of payment, there are no worries. The company uses an SSE-certified and secure third-party processor and does not itself see or hold customer financial information. You can feel safe paying for your orders through their process.

Additional Freebies and Benefits

Policies state that customers are guaranteed confidentiality and the right to request revisions if a product is not up to their expectations. While they state that editors check finished products before they are delivered to customers, we question that as well. Given what many customers have said about the poor quality, we have to wonder who those editors are. And a plagiarism report costs an additional $10.

There are the normal free pages that most writing agencies offer – title and bibliography, to be exact. 

Do We Recommend It – Yes/No

We can say that Do My Writing is safe to use. And it does deliver products to its customers. However, we cannot recommend this service to any student who wants a high-quality product. It’s just not there. We also have concerns that there is no DoMyWriting.com BBB membership. Overall, our DoMyWriting.com rating is 2, on a scale of 1-5. Students can find higher quality writing from a number of other services.
